Cosmetic Dental Services at Warrnambool Dental
In recent years, new techniques have been added to the armoury of cosmetic dentistry, allowing dentists to help clients achieve that dazzling smile and greater confidence while retaining their original teeth as much as possible.
Teeth Whitening
To whiten your teeth, the dentist fits a light mouthguard, tailor-made to fit your mouth.
You then fill the mouthguard with the bleaching agent each day and wear it up to an hour, for about one or two weeks, until you achieve the whiteness you want.
This can work on your whole set of teeth or an individual discoloured tooth.
Dental Veneers
Gaps or short teeth can be corrected through veneers, in which a white filling is attached to the surface of the tooth, rather like attaching a false fingernail.
The bond is very strong, and the result is virtually undetectable from your other teeth, camouflaging what you want to hide.
Veneers may also be used to cover discoloured teeth.
Crowns and Bridges
Crowns and bridges are like hollow, false teeth.
A crown is fitted over a damaged tooth (with a strong root) and glued into place.
A bridge covers the gap left by a missing tooth and is like three crowns joined together in a row, the crown at each end being anchored to the remaining tooth on each side of the gap.
Crowns can now be made of porcelain, giving an extremely realistic colour match to your remaining natural teeth.
Dental Implants
An implant is another means of replacing a missing tooth and is the nearest equivalent to regaining the lost tooth.
A small rod made of titanium is screwed into the jawbone, and a crown is then attached to the top of the rod.
Our bodies readily accept titanium, and the bone bonds to it, making the implant very strong.
We are here to help you answer these & more questions thoroughly.

Frequently Asked Questions
About Cosmetic Dentistry
What cosmetic dental procedures are suitable for people who have missing teeth?
Dental implants and bridges are great choices for patients who have missing tooth/teeth.
What cosmetic dentistry procedures can be done on children?
There are several reasons why children want a better-looking smile, such as for self-confidence and better socialisation.
The cosmetic dental procedures available for children and teenagers are the following: orthodontics, veneers, and enamel shaping.
Are dental cosmetic procedures safe?
Dental cosmetic procedures are safe if they are conducted by experienced dental personnel. At Warrnambool Dental, we ensure all treatments are performed using advanced techniques and high-quality materials to prioritise your safety and oral health.s
Can cosmetic dentistry improve my oral health?
Yes, many cosmetic procedures, such as crowns and veneers, can enhance oral function by restoring damaged teeth and improving bite alignment, contributing to better oral health.
How do I know which cosmetic treatment is right for me?
Our dentists will need to assess your general health and specific oral health needs to fully understand what you want. Based on this, we will recommend the best treatment options tailored to your needs.
How long do cosmetic dental treatments take?
The timeline varies depending on the procedure. Some treatments are one session, while others, such as veneers or smile makeovers, may take many sittings.
Will my dental insurance cover cosmetic procedures?
Cosmetic surgery usually does not fall under insurance as it is considered a beauty enhancement procedure. However, partial coverage may be available if a procedure has restorative benefits. We can assist you in reviewing your insurance benefits.
How long does the effect of these cosmetic procedures last?
The longevity of cosmetic dental treatments depends on the procedure and how well you care for your oral health. For instance, teeth whitening results can last several months, while veneers and crowns can last 10 years or more with proper care.
Are cosmetic procedures painful?
In most cases, cosmetic dental processes are not ordinarily invasive and cause little to no pain. For treatments that may cause discomfort, we use numbing agents or other options to ensure your comfort.
What should I do to avoid the results of my cosmetic dentistry slipping?
Maintaining good oral hygiene, avoiding foods and drinks that stain, and attending regular dental check-ups are essential for maintaining the outcomes of cosmetic dentistry procedures.
