Clear Braces & Invisible Braces Warrnambool
Straight teeth and a bright smile may no longer require a mouthful of unsightly wire and bracket braces. Invisible braces improve self-esteem and physical confidence by providing an attractive, barely visible alternative to traditional wire/bracket braces.
While invisible braces are not appropriate for some misalignment situations or complex bite abnormalities that are better treated by traditional orthodontics, they can be utilised to treat the following conditions:
- Overjet or overbite
- Crooked teeth
- Teeth that are crowded or widely spaced
Adults and older teenagers should avoid wearing invisible braces if their baby teeth are still present. Traditional metal braces with brackets/wires on the front of the teeth are required for children and younger teenagers with orthodontic issues.
Only your Warrnambool dentist or orthodontist can tell if you’re a good candidate. Due to the requirement for full and strict participation, the alternative treatment was intended mainly for adults; the “trays” are worn for 22 hours each day and should not be forgotten or misplaced.
3 Types of Invisible Braces

1. Invisalign Clear Braces
A series of plastic aligners known as trays are used in clear aligners. The trays are used to straighten teeth. While the trays aren’t fully undetectable, they use innovative technologies to make them so.
The aligners are effective for a variety of dental issues, including:
- Overcrowding
- Overbite & Underbite
- Crooked teeth
- Tooth gaps
Nearly 90% of orthodontic situations may be treated with clear aligners like Invisalign. While the trays are initially uncomfortable, these practically undetectable braces do not cause any pain.
There are no wires to poke and break with clear aligners like Invisalign. Because the trays can be removed, they may take some self-control and incentive to wear consistently.
Clear aligners like Invisalign are easy to lose, especially if left in a glass of water because they are practically invisible and resistant to clouding from wear. Losing your aligners can cause therapy to be delayed. Aligners are frequently misplaced in throwaway cups (such as on an aeroplane) or restaurants. Always keep your aligners in their unique storage case when not in use or being cleaned.
2. Ceramic Clear Braces
Ceramic braces are similar to metal braces; only they straighten teeth with tooth-coloured brackets (and sometimes tooth-coloured wires). The tooth-coloured ceramic “blends” with your teeth, making them less noticeable than metal braces but not as “invisible” as clear aligners or inside braces.
Ceramic braces comprise composite materials that are brittle and weaker than metal ones. Ceramic brackets are larger than metal brackets and require thin rubber bands, or ligatures, to secure them to the arch wire (or built-in spring clips on “self-ligating” brackets). The ligatures can stain because they are white or clear. Staining isn’t an issue, either, because ligatures are replaced every time you get an adjustment (generally monthly). Retying with wires or elastics is unnecessary with the “self-ligating” clips.
Ceramic brackets, like metal braces, are not detachable until treatment is done; it might cause irritation and discomfort and affect ordinary tooth care, eating, and speaking.
3. Lingual Braces
Although lingual braces are not always apparent, they do remain hidden. Unlike traditional metal braces, these are placed behind the teeth rather than in front.
They can be a little unpleasant for the tongue at first, but after a week or two, you won’t even notice. They are not clear braces, but they are inexpensive and virtually undetectable braces.
Treatment Duration
The length of your therapy is determined by your circumstances and the sort of invisible braces you wear. Braces are typically worn for 18 to 24 months, though they may be worn for longer.
Metal braces are the most effective since they are comprised of the most durable materials. While robust and attractive, Ceramic braces take longer to adjust than metal braces. Inside braces can sometimes take longer to work.
Clear aligner treatment times differ. Invisalign treatment, for example, normally takes nine to fifteen months to complete because it requires 20 to 30 aligners for the upper and lower teeth.
In conclusion, whatever sort of invisible braces you choose, make sure you’ve done your homework.
Remember that once your treatment is over and your teeth are straightened, you must wear a retainer aligner every night. This helps keep your teeth beautiful and healthy by preventing them from shifting.
